Our shoot with Leigh & Ron will forever be known as the engagement session of epic proportions! We started out with a hike up Saddle Mountain with their Border Collies for a commanding view of the North Oregon Coast & the mouth of the Columbia River. After resting-up with great food and beer in Astoria, we finished off the day with a sunset shoot on the beach. It was definitely a full and wonderful day! A big thanks to the both of you for sharing some of your special spots with us–we are looking forward to an epic wedding as well!

Jenny & Steve are a double-dose of sweetness & hilarity! For their engagement session, they decided to explore Sauvie Island on a bicycle built for two. We really wish we didn’t have to wait a whole year to see them again–we are definitely looking forward to this wedding!

Margi and Scott are dear friends of ours who are tying the knot in a few weeks! These two have been in front of my lens on many ski trips and forays into the backcountry, but this was a new adventure for us and equally as fun. We all met up, including their dog Quinn, on a recent evening for a few photos around their neighborhood near North Williams Avenue. The evening was beautiful, and after drinks at Pix Patisserie (the site of their first “official” date) we strolled the neighborhood shooting around all the great buildings. We wrapped up with a sunset bike ride near Portland’s Overlook Park, so stay tuned for more!

It’s time for yet another blissful beach shoot! We met Andy & Danylle at the quaint and lovely town of Gearhart on a recent gorgeous Saturday evening to avoid the crowds everywhere else. They are two energetic, dynamic & loving individuals that make one amazing couple! We has such a great time soaking up the last few hours of sunlight with them on this stretch of beach.
To say we are excited does not adequately describe how much we are looking forward to their wedding celebration this summer, but these two words will give you a hint: Bike Parade!

Long summer nights are the best for shooting at twilight! Here’s a quick peek at Scott & Margi’s bike-themed engagement session earlier this week.

This is a long one, folks, but there is quite a story here. We love it when couples choose locations for their engagement session that are particularly meaningful to the. For Hayley & Ian, it was a secluded beach just north of the town of Cannon Beach–a favorite spot of theirs for quick getaways to the coast. When they suggested the spot, including about a mile-plus hike to the beach, we were totally up for it! Having been there before, they mentioned the hike was fairly simple.
The weather was glorious the day of the shoot, but the consecutive days of rain the week before had turned the trail into a muddy mess. This was unknown to us, of course, and we all chose to wear casual beach footwear (aka: sandals). After about a quarter of a mile in, Ian rolled up his pants to forge through the mud, eventually abandoning his flip-flops all together.
After we carefully navigated the trail, with Ian carrying his bride on his back… barefoot… through the mud, we arrived at the beach and found we had the whole place to ourselves! It was definitely worth the hard work, and we love their story told through these photos. Thanks to you both for the introduction to a great beach, and being such adventurers!

We feel extremely fortunate for the sun that shined on Oregon this weekend. (If you are a local, you know we needed it!) We also feel soooo fortunate to work with such genuinely wonderful & fun-loving couples! Both were in abundance for a pair of engagement sessions on the Coast this weekend. Stay tuned for more from this awesome day!

We were very excited when Mindy & Walter chose Cathedral Park as the location for their engagement portraits. We love shooting here, especially with the unique gothic architecture of the St. John’s Bridge looming over head. It is truly a Portland landmark that everyone should experience! Add some beautiful evening light, and a random “bouquet” from a rhododendron we we found lying around, and you have a recipe for some stunning images. We are looking forward to shooting with these two again at their Portland wedding this summer!

It doesn’t get much better than a spring evening on Sauvie Island outside of Portland! We often will head out to Sauvie’s at this time of year for an impromptu picnic, a quick hike, or just to catch the sunset. It’s a gorgeous escape from the city just outside the door! Erin and Joe thought it would make a great location for their engagement session, since her grandparents lived there during her childhood. We had an awesome time walking along the beach, watching the sunset over the green fields, and enjoying some wine with this fun couple. Erin & Joe, thank you for a great evening. We are looking forward to your wedding next month!
